Sean Rasmussen and Kurek Ashley- Part 3
Stuart Ginbey | July 24, 2008Habits.
Imagine if we didn’t have them and we had to continually think out every process we ever made. As amazing as a habit is, there are obviously pro’s and con’s to each one and we need to recognize the difference between those that harm and those that help. Lets have a look at what Kurek Ashley has to say about habits and then look at how we can incorporate it into our own lives.
There are some very valid points that Sean Rasmussen and Kurek Ashley talk about. Firstly, replace a dis-empowering habit with an empowering habit and reward yourself. This is a brilliant strategy that we can all use and one that is very easy to put into action. If you want to quit smoking, make the decision now, replace the hand to mouth action with a bottle of water and reward yourself by saving the money that you would usually spend on cigarettes. It’s important to note that you shouldn’t replace it with food as this would lead to overeating and become another bad habit in itself. Identify the bad habit, replace it with a good habit and reward yourself.
Another good point to note is that of prioritizing your life. It’s one thing to focus on work or wealth creation, but not at the expense of everything else. How easy it to get caught up in work, doing more and more hours to bring in the money to pay the bills, when you miss out on experiencing your children growing up or don’t get to do the things that you really want to do. Try working out a schedule and sticking to it. You might dedicate 6-7am to your health and go for a walk or run. Work could be from 8am to 5pm. 6pm to 8pm is family time with the kids and after 8pm could be time to spend with your partner. The weekend can be a lot more relaxed but there is no reason why you can’t have a more balanced life and achieve all the things you want to.
Yours truly,
